Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the PetMemoir store you are visiting collects, uses, discloses, and retains personal information when you browse, create custom artwork, place an order, use a customer account, or contact us.

1. Who this policy covers

“PetMemoir,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the operator identified for the PetMemoir store in your checkout and order records. PetMemoir Portrait and PetMemoir Blanket are separate Shopify store tracks that use this shared privacy framework. Product-specific providers and fulfillment steps can differ between those stores.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the store, we may collect:

  • Contact and account information, such as name, email, phone number if you provide one, shipping and billing addresses, account identifiers, and communication preferences.
  • Order and transaction information, such as products, customization selections, order status, discounts, currency, taxes, delivery details, and limited payment-related information. Payment credentials are handled by Shopify and enabled payment providers; PetMemoir does not need to receive complete card details.
  • Customer content, including uploaded pet photographs, pet names, written instructions, selected styles, previews, approvals, generated artwork, and the final delivered artwork.
  • Device and usage information, such as browser and device type, IP address, pages viewed, interactions, approximate location derived from network information, referral source, and cookie or consent signals.
  • Support and feedback information, including messages, order references, photos of an item or packaging, claim details, and survey or feedback responses.
  • Fraud, safety, and compliance information needed to protect customers, the store, providers, and legal rights.

A pet photo can also contain information about people, a home, documents, location clues, or image metadata. Please crop or remove content that is not needed for the artwork.

3. How we collect information

We collect information directly from you; automatically from the store, cookies, and similar technologies; from Shopify and enabled commerce providers; and from fulfillment, delivery, fraud-prevention, analytics, advertising, or support providers where relevant to their services.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • operate the store, authenticate customer accounts, process payment, and manage orders;
  • review uploaded content and create personalized artwork;
  • produce custom Portrait and Blanket items and deliver digital artwork;
  • communicate about previews, approvals, downloads, production, delivery, support, returns, replacements, and refunds;
  • maintain service quality, diagnose problems, secure accounts and transactions, prevent fraud or misuse, and enforce our terms;
  • measure and improve the store and customer experience;
  • send marketing where you have consented or where another lawful basis applies, with the ability to unsubscribe; and
  • comply with law, tax and accounting duties, lawful requests, and the establishment or defense of legal claims.

The lawful basis, where one is required, may be performance of a contract, consent, compliance with law, or a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights. The basis depends on the activity and your location.

5. Customized and AI-assisted artwork

PetMemoir may use automated or AI-assisted creative services to transform the pet photo and instructions you provide. This requires sending the content and relevant instructions to service providers that help generate, review, store, or deliver the artwork. We authorize providers to process this information only for contracted services and related security or legal purposes, subject to their applicable agreements.

We do not authorize creative providers to use customer content for their own unrelated marketing. Provider-specific processing, retention, and model-improvement terms are governed by the applicable service configuration and agreement. We do not promise that no provider ever retains a security or compliance record where its agreement or law permits one.

6. When we disclose information

We may disclose information to:

  • Shopify, which hosts the storefront, checkout, customer accounts, order records, and related commerce services;
  • payment, fraud-prevention, and tax providers used for checkout and transaction security;
  • creative, hosting, storage, and digital-delivery providers needed to create and supply custom artwork;
  • production, fulfillment, shipping, and delivery providers for physical Portrait and Blanket orders;
  • customer support, email, analytics, and advertising providers used by the store, subject to consent requirements and available privacy choices;
  • professional advisers, authorities, and other parties where reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and security; and
  • a successor or transaction counterparty in a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal requirements.

We do not publish a customer’s original pet photo or artwork for advertising merely because an order was placed. Portfolio, testimonial, or marketing use requires separate permission or another lawful basis clearly disclosed to the customer.

7. Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising

PetMemoir does not treat personal information as a product to sell for money. Some privacy laws use “sell,” “share,” or “targeted advertising” more broadly and may include certain advertising, analytics, or cross-context data practices. Where a right applies, use the store’s Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link. Shopify’s native opt-out system also recognizes Global Privacy Control signals in configured regions.

The practices that apply to a visit depend on the pixels, apps, advertising services, consent choices, and Shopify privacy settings enabled for the store and region.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

The store uses technologies needed for checkout, security, account access, localization, and other core functions. With permission where required, it may also use preference, analytics, and marketing technologies. Use the control in the footer to open Shopify’s configured privacy preferences. Browser settings may also limit cookies, but blocking essential technologies can affect store functions.

9. Retention

Temporary artwork sessions normally expire after about 96 hours, and temporary uploaded assets normally receive an expiry marker of about 72 hours. When an order is purchased, the source-photo record receives a 30-day retention marker. Final artwork, order, and support records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill orders, provide purchased downloads, support customers, prevent fraud or abuse, meet accounting or legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Actual retention can vary by record type and provider, and information may be deleted or de-identified when it is no longer needed.

Download access is not a permanent backup service. Save your own copy of delivered artwork. A verified deletion request can affect our ability to provide later downloads, reprints, or support.

10. International processing

Shopify and other providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, PetMemoir relies on recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual or organizational safeguards appropriate to the service and location.

11. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information; withdraw consent; appeal a privacy decision; or opt out of certain sale, sharing, profiling, or targeted advertising. These rights can have exceptions, and we may need to verify your identity and authority.

Use Contact Us for a privacy request. Use the store’s native Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link for applicable advertising/data-sharing opt-outs, and the footer’s Manage Cookies control for optional cookie consent. You may also unsubscribe using a link in a marketing message.

12. Security

We and our providers use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No online system or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Do not send passwords, full payment-card details, or unnecessary sensitive information through support forms.

13. Children

The store is not directed to children who cannot legally enter a purchase contract. A purchaser must have legal capacity or use the service with authorization from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child supplied personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can review the request.

14. Third-party links

The store may link to carrier, payment, social, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices, not this policy.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in products, providers, law, or store practices. We will post the revised version and update the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.

16. Contact

For questions or privacy requests, use Contact Us and select General support. The store operator is identified in your checkout and order records.
